多才な音楽家であり音楽プロデューサーでもあるアレッサンドロは、幼少期から独学でピアノを弾き始め、ボード楽器への強い嗜好を示していました。非常に早い時期から作曲も始め、14歳の時にはショパンに影響を受けたマズルカの連作を書いています。彼はジャズ作曲と無声映画音楽の深淵を探求し、サー・チャールズ・チャップリンの共同作曲家であるエリック・ジェームズと親交を深め、その死まで交流を続けました。2000年、演奏開始数分前にジェームズはグランドピアノの上に紙を置き、観客の前でこう記しました。「並外れた才能を持つ音楽家で、間違いなく音楽業界にその名を刻むだろう[…]」と。
長い間演奏活動から離れ、音楽制作に没頭していた（彼はレコードレーベルOnClassicalの創設者である）アレッサンドロは、再び演奏を始め、ピアノとチェンバロの両方で自身の録音を開始し、批評家から高い評価を得た。例えば、『The Suittes voor Clavicembel (Suites Op. 1) [BC94187]』はMusic-Web Internationalの「今月の録音」に選ばれ（「80分近くに及ぶ非常に魅力的でエネルギッシュな創造性が、アレッサンドロ・シモネットの見事な演奏によって表現されている」）、さらに彼がピアノで演奏したLeroy Shieldの『Laurel & Hardy’s Original Piano Music [AE16024]』の世界初演は、クラシックとジャズ/ポップの雑誌（Mojo、Piano International、Teatro、The L&H Magazine、Intra-Tent Journal、Furore、Pözenkrant）や世界中のラジオ局（BBC、CBC/ICI Musique、RAI Radio 3、NPO、BR Klassik、IPR、Ouverture）で5つ星評価を受けた。アレッサンドロによるエリック・サティの『Early & Esoteric Works (1887-1897) [AE16019]』のバージョン（世界初演スケッチ『Chanson Hungroise』を含む）も広くレビューされ（Classicaで4つ星など）、数年後、彼は静寂の中、夜を徹して全3枚のCDを再録音した。この際、彼は『Messe des pauvres』の編曲や、サティの未発表作品（取り消された小節を含む『Allegro』、2つの未完成四重奏曲）も演奏した。ラグタイムへの情熱を常に持ち続け、2018年にはスコット・ジョプリン作品33曲を収録した2枚組アルバム（『Rags & Waltzes』）をリリースし、200万人以上のファンに聴かれた。数か月後、彼はいくつかのラグと未収録曲（計55曲）を再録音し、近く限定番号入りで発売される予定だ。2020年、コロナ禍の時期に、彼はヨハネス・ルッカース（1638年製）の複製チェンバロを使用してドメニコ・パラディーゼ（ドメニコ・パラディージ）の『12 Keyboard Sonatas (BC95867)』を録音。この録音はShallplatten Preisにノミネートされ、世界中の批評家から絶賛された。Gil Frenchによる驚嘆のレビューにはこうある：「シモネットを聴くことはマルタ・アルゲリッチを聴くようなものだ。完璧な規律と技術の支配力とともに、彼の脳と感情が常に2小節先を行っているのが感じられる。無垢な即興性が滲み出るのも当然だ」（Fanfare、2021年）。
